Story

Me and my wife Victoria were thrilled when a pregnancy test showed that we were expecting a baby to add to our family. The initial 12 weeks were challenging with Victoria not feeling the greatest and it seemed that it was going to be a long pregnancy. In October 2018 we went for the 12 week scan which revealed that my wife did not have a baby but a rare form of cancer that shows positive on a pregnancy test and causes a huge rise in your hormones. Victoria had an operation the following day to try and remove everything but sadly that was unsuccesful. Victoria started Chemotherapy that was administered at Charing Cross Hospital in London. The Chemotherapy has reduced her hormone levels back to normal and Victoria recieved her last cycle on the 22nd Mar 2019. We have now amazingly been given the all clear. During this tough time the support we have recieved has been humbling and amazing. The Army and charities supporting the Army have been amazing. From the day the diagnosis happened they have allowed me to work from home to enable me to look after Victoria and our baby Kaitlin. The welfare support we have recieved from them has been second to none and this support has made life so much easier. The Medical care we have recieved from Prof Seckl and his oncology team at Charing Cross has been exceptional. Our families have also been brilliant and our rocks during this hard time.

The words thank you truly do not sum up the appreciation we feel. I am in awe of Victorias positivity and strength during this so i have decided to do something challenging to raise as much money as I can.

On the 12 Oct 19 i will be cycling from John O’ Groats to Lands End via the cycle network. From Lands End i will cycle to Exeter and then finish with Four marathons finishing at the Armour Centre, Bovington. This challenge will be completed over two weeks.

I am doing this to raise money for :

Cancer Treatment and Research Trust Charing Cross Branch, SSAFA, The Kings Royal Hussars Regimental Association, The Household Cavalry Regimental Association, The Royal British Legion and the Bovington and Lulworth Welfare Fund.

All of these have made life so much easier during these tough times.
