Story
Love our city and its people.
Last night thousands of young people and their friends and families came from far and wide to enjoy a pop concert at Manchester Arena. Their night ended with 22 people losing their lives, many more injured, and all no doubt terrified.
Many local people took to the streets to offer food, drink, a ride home and shelter - Manchester’s just that kind of city.
In the midst of this heartbreaking tragedy we Stand Together to make a difference, whether we’re Mancunian born and bred, have adopted Manchester as our city, or come from further afield.
Several JustGiving pages are springing up, to raise what will be much-needed funds to support the victims and families of those affected by the terrible events of last night, right now if they need it, and for the future.
We’re asking you to join with us as StandTogetherMcr with support from well known local business leaders, such as Mylo Kaye of Dreamr.
If we Stand Together we will make maximum impact and show the world our resilience, our passion for our city, and that we stand together with those people impacted by such horrific events.
We have a Press Release and media interviews arranged for this afternoon. We want to be able to count on your support, to give the initiative maximum impact. If you could use #StandTogetherMcr and Standing Together we can really make this happen and make a difference.

8 years agoAndy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, has just given a press conference with the leader of Manchester City Council, Sir Richard Leese. He said after the "darkest of nights" Manchester was waking up to "the most difficult of dawns". He says the attack was "an evil act". Mr Burnham says Manchester is "grieving, but we are strong". He says it will be business as usual as far as possible. He praises the people of Manchester for opening their doors to those affected by the attack and doing what they can to help.
