Help me support two incredible charities in honour of my brother Andrew, who inspires me every day.
At 19, my brother Andrew was diagnosed with a rare degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which causes gradual vision loss. Despite the challenges this brought, Andrew refused to let his blindness define him. Over the past 15 years, he has channelled his determination, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit into building two successful companies. His ability to thrive and succeed in the face of adversity is a constant source of inspiration for me, which is why I’m taking on this challenge to raise funds for two incredible charities committed to empowering the blind and visually impaired, helping them unlock opportunities and realise their full potential.
Today, Andrew's greatest source of joy is his beautiful family: his wife Emma, and their two wonderful children, Arthur and Bridie. I want to do something special for Andrew by raising money for two charities that support people with visual impairments and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
The Charities:
1. VISA (Visually Impaired Sailing Association)
VISA’s mission is to empower visually impaired people through the life-changing experience of sailing. They organise expeditions around the UK, where visually impaired individuals learn the skills to be active members of a sailing crew. As someone who loves the sea and sailing, VISA’s work resonates with me deeply, and I’m honoured to support them.
2. European Blind Union (EBU)
The EBU is doing incredible work to transform the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals across Europe. By partnering with the largest blind and visually impaired charities across Europe, as well as their governments, the EBU is driving significant change. Their dedication to improving accessibility, equality, and independence for those with visual impairments is truly inspiring.
Why Mallorca?
Mallorca is a place very close to my heart. My family has visited this beautiful island since we were young, and it’s where I’ve chosen to take on this challenge in honour of Andrew. It’s a fitting place for such a meaningful cause, and a place where I feel connected to my brother and our shared memories.
How you can help:
Your donation will help the charities continue their life-changing work. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference in the lives of people living with visual impairments, empowering them to live more independently and realise their potential.
