I've raised £5000 to Help fund Stage 4 cancer treatment for Mehdi. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/three-years-doctors-told-retired-13210990

In August 2016, my husband Mehdi was rushed into Royal Gwent Hospital with chronic pain in his stomach. He was seen and then sent back home until the pain became so severe we had no choice but to return to the hospital. Finally he was offered a CT scan. They found a large Stage 4 tumour in his bowel. Being told that he was in a life threatening situation, the hospital team sent him for an emergency operation. This followed 3 years of prior missed symptoms . 1 year on, at 63, thank goodness he is still here because the surgeon removed the primary tumour and repaired his bowel. We're eternally grateful for this. Within 3 days, he was back on his feet in hospital, surprising those around him, but not his family, we all know of his determined spirit and courage. We have two children, and Mehdi is known as "Papa" to his 3 loving Grandsons, Carson aged 3, Warwick aged 2, and Jude aged 18 months. He is determined to spend as much time with them as possible!
Mehdi has always led a healthy lifestyle, fuelled by a love for activity, and he developed a real passion for windsurfing when he turned 50!
With very few symptoms during 2016, and nothing being detected from medical blood tests, we were all totally blind to the cancer. Something we are working hard to change for others in the future by raising awareness! Due to the lack of diagnosis, he is now fighting secondary cancer in the liver, lungs, lymph nodes and abdominal cavity, all of which spread from the original bowel cancer. His positivity is remarkable. After 12 rounds of chemotherapy, Mehdi has achieved good results considering what he was faced with. He's also put maxmimum effort into adopting a cancer fighting nutrition regime to supplement the treatment and give his body the best chance.
Mehdi's secondary cancers need more specialised treatment and we're appealing for your help in fundraising for a PET scan, and cytoreductive surgery.
We are eternally grateful for all of your support. Read about Challenge 1954
