Story

Hello everyone!

My name is Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy, and I am honoured to be both the Bishop of Willesden, and a Trustee for Making Herstory, a not-for-profit movement which seeks to prevent and end all forms of male violence against women and girls.

I'll be getting on my bike, along with six fellow male riders, on Friday 29th November 2024, and cycling from St Mary's in Willesden, UK, across London (and the River Thames) to the Greenwich Observatory. We are doing this in order to:

1. Mark the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW) of 25th November 2024, and the 16 Days of Action that follow.

2. Help launch discussions on the roles ALL men and boys must play in ending the many forms of sex-based violence currently harming women and girls around the world. The issue of male violence is after all, not a women's issue. It is a men's issue. Every man has a part to play in changing the reality of daily abuses - and preventing the weekly murders - of women, and increasingly, children too.

3. Raise crucial funds needed by nia to aid women survivors of both male abuses and human trafficking for a therapy space, so they can finally obtain the support and safe space they need to help heal and rebuild their lives.

My 18 mile journey will include symbolic stops at the UK Houses of Parliament, and in honour of Her Majesty Queen Camilla's call to the nation to help end Domestic Abuse, at Buckingham Palace too.

The ride will end at the Greenwich Observatory, in homage to 'The Star Outside My Window': a children's story written by award-winning author and founder of Making Herstory, Onjali Q Rauf, to highlight the impact of domestic abuse upon children.

ALL FUNDS raised will be donated directly to nia on behalf of Making Herstory.

Please help me and my fellow riders reach our goal by donating what you wish to, and of course, spreading These Words.

Thank You...

Hello everyone, On this Christmas Eve-Eve, I want to say a huge big Thank You for supporting our Bishop On A Bike campaign. I am so proud to finally share with you our finished video of the day's event. Please do feel free to share: the more people we can wake up to the unacceptable realities of Domestic Violence - especially ahead of Christmas when incidents spike - the greater the chance of ending such violence for someone, somewhere. This is just the beginning of our endeavours. So stay with us... Lusa & the Bishops On A Bike team X
