“Our Mitch" My wonderful Nephew
Mitchell was born with Down Syndrome. From day one he has taught the family what true love is.
In May 2010, when Mitch was 10 he fell ill and was diagnosed with Leukaemia,
Over the next years Mitchell took every hit that Leukaemia threw at him, with such dignity. Watching him being so ill has been, and still is heart breaking!!
Over the following years after his first diagnosis Mitchell has had 4 relapses. No words can explain the heart ache, we all felt, and still do, each time
However as always Mitchell took each set back and just got on with it!
In 2014 he was offered a chance to go on a trial drug in Sheffield, which resulted in his amazing sister donating her bone Marrow.
Mitchell appeared to have beat the Leukaemia, going back to school and starting to experience what every teenager should, Living his life!
At the end of the trail drug Mitch celebrated his day with the Doctors and Nurses he had made smile over the past years, but before he left he had his last blood test.
Yes, you guessed it the Leukaemia has once more returned. Each and everyone involved with Mitchell's life, Family, Friends and Medical staff were shocked beyond belief.
The only way forward was to participate in a clinical trial, Immunotherapy with CD19 CAR redirected T-cells.
Mitch has been unable to get the treatment he needs, in the UK.
The only option open to us now, is a clinical trial in another country. As a family we want to offer Mitchell every chance whatever county it is in!!
