Story

On Wednesday I posted a devastating news about our friend. As I created the found rasing page straight after the news, while I was picking up my kids from school I only managed to write a short story now I would like to share a bit more about this wonderful girl and her heartbreaking story.
Patrycja is 26 and a single mum. Her little boy Nikodem will be 6 on 21of September. Patrycja has been firstly diagnosed with cancer in 2017, Lymphoma Non Hodgin type B. After 6 doses of chemotherapy it was gone. After 8 months - DLBCL high grade cancer. She had autologous stem cell transplant straight away. March/April time there was suspicion that it got to CNS (central nervous system) . Confirmed in July by PET that it also attacked spleen, liver and other organs...and it was almost 100%certain that it got to CNS. Another chemotherapy - R-IVAC. During that chemo she got fungal infection (candida). For the first time doctors told Patrycja that they are not able to help her anymore and she should decide where she wants to spend her last moments...Suddenly infection stoped, fever was gone. White cells were very very low. They decided to try another way to fight the infection, she was given granulocyte from donors, white cells level was stabilised.MRI of the brain and spine has confirmed that there is a partial response to chemotherapy in the CNS, but still an extensive disease in the brain and spinal cord. Prognosis 4-6 months...
She now had two choices...
1. Chemotherapy ( can give her additional 2 weeks of life, it can kill her and either way she spends time in hospital)
2.Symptom contron-Painkillers and antisickness tablets... ( at home, with her son...)
Her biggest dream is to take her little boy on their first holiday.... Unfortunately her condition is not allowing her to go abroad so we have already started organising few short trips, stays, days out locally.
As the response was truly amazing we would like to thank you.
