Story
We are 4 parents (Jess, Steve, Graham & Julie) some not quite 40 others over 40 ;) and trying to keep up with the kids! We are running a 10 km race on Saturday 13th October. We are hoping to raise some money towards the total cost of the trip so that the trip is affordable for all and that every child has the opportunity to go should they wish.
Over the last 12 years, the children of Foxton Primary School have built a close bond with children in a school in central Madrid. They have written to their pen friends and shared photographs of their schools and their work. Every two years, the oldest class at Foxton undertake a visit to their sister school in Madrid. This visit not only strengthens the bonds of friendship between the two communities, it helps to broaden the horizons of children in both schools. The children of Foxton are welcomed into the heart of the school and are able to experience life in a vastly different environment from their village community. In return, they are able to bring a small part of rural England to the busy, bustling world of central Madrid.
Whilst in Madrid, as well as meeting their pen friends, the children visit the Reina Sofia art gallery to view works by Dali, Miro and Picasso; take a tour of the Stadio Bernabeu and learn about the history of Real Madrid and have a walking tour around the historic centre of Madrid itself visiting Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and the royal palace.
The visit has a lasting legacy among all who have experienced it and we are keen for this wonderful opportunity to continue into the future.
