    Story

The Malcolm Arnold Society is really pleased to launch this crowdfunding project to support a collaboration between Foden’s Band and ourselves

Sir Malcolm Arnold was one of the leading British composers of the second half of the 20th century. Well known for his classical, film and brass music.

Foden's were formed in 1902 by Edwin Foden, originally named 'The Foden’s Motorworks Band.' From these humble beginnings few would have thought they would go on to win 12 British Open titles, 16 National Championships of Great Britain and an unparalleled double hat-trick in 1932, 33, 34 and in 1936, 37 and 38. The band currently holds the record for the number of Area Contest wins with an unprecedented 24 North West Area titles. Since 1902 they have maintained their positions as one of the World's leading bands on and off the contest stage. In 2012 Foden’s won the ‘Double’ being crowned the 2012 British Open / National Champions and in 2018 2021 and 2022 were once again crowned the National Champions. As well as being successful on the contest front the band have won numerous awards for cd releases, regularly appear on BBC TV and Radio and perform at all the countries leading concert halls. Around the world Foden’s Band is a trademark that musicians associate with inestimable class and musicianship.

We are looking to raise £6,000 to fund the production of a cd of Malcolm’s brass music which when complete will retail at £14.95 plus p & p. Although any donation is welcome we are offering the following levels of sponsorship

Contribute £13.50+ now and receive the cd once produced. Overseas postage would incur an extra cost.

Contribute £30+ now and receive the cd plus a year’s online membership of the Malcolm Arnold Society. This includes the quarterly Malcolm Arnold Society newsletter Beckus. With performance diary, news, reviews, features, analysis and archive material. Also included are regular email updates from the society and exclusive offers.

Contribute £50+ now and as well as all the above, receive a free years Patronage of the Foden's Band . As a patron of Foden’s Band you will receive 2 copies of Foden’s Fanfare (the magazine of the Foden’s Patrons Society) each year, regular emails and exclusive offers on Foden’s tickets and merchandise.

Contribute £100+ now and as well as the above have your name listed in the cd credits

Contribute £500+ now and as well as the above receive an invitation to one of the recording sessions (to be held in the Cheshire/Greater Manchester area)

The music on the cd will be:

I am delighted to be able to share the news that we have now met our initial target of £6,000 mainly through donations made not via this platform. However, we will leave this page open for another 7 days to collect any final contributions. Also having taken feedback from members of the banding community we have changed the music that will be on the CD so that it will now contain 5 premiere recordings of Malcolm's brass music.
