Macc Town Raiders is a Macclesfield-based grassroots, non-profit organisation, founded in June 2022, with the vision to provide children and young adults in the local community an opportunity to join a team sport that not only promotes physical health, but also builds strong friendships through the value of teamwork and supports mental and emotional well-being.

Founded and coached by Dirk Vervaet, a former professional player for the Belgian National Basketball team, Macc Town Raiders and its members can take full advantage of the experience, passion and great sense of humour Dirk brings to each and every training session. He is truly inspirational.

Basketball shapes a young person’s mind in a spectacular way, creating a sense of responsibility for oneself and others to co-operate in an effective and caring manner. Basketball can truly affect how young people turn out as adults and how successful they can become. They WILL build a better society, because they WILL want to excel in everything they do!

Nothing could have prepared us for the incredible popularity and demand to join the team, and the 80% retention rate demonstrates just how dedicated, resilient and hard-working these young people are, and how much they enjoy training together. A fantastic start to what we believe will be a team that will grow from strength to strength and put Macclesfield on the map of basketball in the Northwest and across the nation!
