Story
On April 24th 2022 my friend Keith Kelly sadly passed away suddenly. I am cycling solo from Malin Head to Mizen Head (378 miles) on 25th May to highlight issues with mental health, to encourage people to speak to someone rather than suffer in silence and to raise funds for Cycle Against Suicide, Depaul and Shelter NI.
Any funds raised will be split between Cycle Against Suicide , Depaul and Shelter NI as Keith was passionate about caring for the homeless and worked with the homeless in Armagh prior to his death.
Cycle Against Suicide is an awareness charity (CHY 20687) that makes a valuable contribution to the public education of mental health by changing the narrative surrounding suicide. When an individual is vulnerable enough to consider taking their own life, silence is read as indifference. With hundreds of people dying by suicide in Ireland each year and research indicating that thousands more contemplate it, we all have a role to play to collectively address the challenges that suicide presents. In a bid to save more lives, Cycle Against Suicide through its programmes, sets out to change culture and create a society that openly talks about suicide to allow people to speak up and seek help.
IT’S OK NOT TO FEEL OK; AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY OK TO ASK FOR HELP’
Shelter Northern Ireland was founded in 1980 and is a charity whose mission is to promote and facilitate the provision of sufficient, decent and affordable homes to end long term homelessness and eliminate poor housing.
Depaul is a leading charity operating across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland supporting some of the most marginalised individuals, couples and families experiencing homelessness. They provide support across five key areas of homelessness.

2 years agoIt's now just over a week until I set off. I thought we'd be hard pushed to get to £3k but thanks to you very generous people we are now sitting on £3300. The 3 charities are delighted at your generosity... as am I. Please keep Keith in your thoughts over the coming weeks. While this is being done to raise funds, it's also being done to keep Keith's memory alive and to keep in our thoughts those people who struggle day and daily with their mental health. Thanks again to you all... please keep sharing the link over the next two weeks.

2 years agoThanks to everyone who has donated so far. I honestly didn't think we'd have anywhere close to this amount yet. Your generosity is humbling, and very much appreciated. Almost at the £3k mark. It's important to remember why we're doing this... to remember an old friend gone too soon... and to raise awareness of the organisations who can help prevent it from happening to others: https://www.cycleagainstsuicide.com/ #ItsOKNotToBeOK #ItsAbsolutelyOKtoAskForHelp Thanks.
