Story
My name is Leen Saleh. I am an 18 year old Syrian girl, the second oldest child in a family of 7. Currently we live in Qatar but we now face sudden deportation to the war stricken country of Syria. Though it is our home country it could be very dangerous.
It all started when the war struck. My father was a top civil engineer in Dubai, UAE. He was let go during the first year of the war because of his nationality and we were forced to move to Qatar. A few years of switching between jobs and moving houses passed.
He finally acquired a decent well paying job in his field but ultimately lost it because of a disagreement with the senior members of the company. He wanted to maintain an ethical practice and for that he was let go. He always wanted the best for his children, attempting to give them a better life than he had, and had borrowed a loan to pay for me and my siblings' school tuition fees.
Because of his unemployment he was unable to pay for rent, living expenses, other house bills and school related fees, and most importantly the bank loan. He was harassed by them and wrongfully accused of forging a false cheque to which he's serving jail time for at the moment. We couldn't afford a lawyer and obviously the bank had excellent representation.
He was convicted and he must pay reparations for his release. This leaves my mother, my 3 sisters, my older brother and me facing deportation. He was the sole source of income to the family and we are in urgent need of any donation no matter how small.
His name is Zaher and he means to me what any good father does to his children. He's kind. He's gentle. He's strong. To me, he represented everything a man should be. He's our dad. I'm scared of what my life would be without him, what my 8 year old sister's life would be without him. She doesn't usually go to sleep without him and thinks he's traveling at the moment.
We hope you keep us in your prayers and lend a hand to a good family in need.
