Brass banders have several well known traits - we’re musicians (obviously), we love a bit of tea and cake at a village fete, we’re pretty much everywhere you look at Christmas and we love a challenge. To this end, a team of runners from Lydney Town Band are taking on the Severn Bridge 10k on Sunday 27th August!

The team - Kerry, Tim, Mark, Louise, Richard, Kay, Joe and Rory - is a snapshot of everything that makes Lydney Town Band so brilliant and successful. The team includes runners of all ages, people who’ve been running for years and people who are eager to score that first medal, as well as supporters who might not play in the band but know people who are, and know about the positive impact it has on their lives.

We thought we’d take the opportunity to raise money for Lydney Town Band which is what brought us all together. The Band is currently in need of additional storage space at its band room in Lydney and is looking to secure that by acquiring a shipping container. This will allow it make better use of its rehearsal and tuition spaces and continue its work in developing the next generation of brass musicians, and representing Lydney at local events and nationally in competitions.
