Lune Valley Swimming Pool is a cherished community asset that provides various swimming opportunities for those in the surrounding community. We offer a wide range of swimming lessons and activities, including children’s swimming lessons, school lessons to 9 local primary schools and 2 schools for children with additional needs, family fun sessions, Aquafit classes, public sessions and so much more. We also provide pool hire for two local diving clubs, three local cub and scout groups and multiple family and social groups for children with additional needs.

As a community run swimming pool, we strive to offer safe and inclusive swimming opportunities for all ages and abilities. However, as a not-for-profit charity, this can be hard to maintain, as we rely on grant funding and continuous fundraising to keep our doors open and offer these essential services to the community.

Our annual Sponsored Swim is making a return from the 17th – 23rd of March 2025. All of our LVSP swimmers and schools will be taking part in this challenge to see how far they can swim whilst raising crucial funds for the swimming pool. Members of the public are also welcome to join in, by counting their lengths during their swim.

Last year our amazing swimmers swam 123 miles and raised an incredible £2050.70, which went straight back into maintaining the swimming pool. This year we are aiming to smash that goal and raise funds for our Energy Fund!

Over the summer of 2024, we had extensive investment work completed on the pool including a new roof, new air handling system and solar panels which significantly reduced our utility bills. However, at the end of 2024 the gas price trebled, which has meant that those savings have been effectively cancelled out. Fundraising events such as our Sponsored Swim is crucial in helping the pool reduce our operating costs and ensures the sustainability of the pool.
