Penlan Park occupies a prominent, elevated position overlooking Llandeilo town. The park, gifted to the town in 1908 by Lord Dynevor and now under the care of the Town Council, consists of a large mown grass area bounded by native and ornamental trees with a grade II listed bandstand constructed on the highest point. The park’s primary access is through a gated entrance off Carmarthen Road, where a tarmac path provides a circular walk around the perimeter of the mown grass area, linking with the bandstand along the way. Informal paths lead through the sloped and overgrown woodland along the site’s southern boundary. Llandeilo Fawr Town Council’s management and improvement plan is intended to help ensure the landscape of Penlan Park continues to provide the setting of a high-quality recreational amenity for the enjoyment of the town’s community and its visitors alongside an environment that enhances the local biodiversity.

Parc Le Conquet (The Rec as it is known locally) has long been the park with the wonky football pitch. Located in the middle of the town and accessible from many directions, it is the focus for children’s play and recreational exercise. With a young children’s play area, a place to picnic, the skate and basketball courts, an outdoor exercise area, tennis courts, a bowls club and grassed field within its boundary it has a lot going on and a lot to maintain. The facilities here are constantly under review and the exercise area is currently looking tired. There have been requests for a slide to return and a splash park to be built and there is no shortage of enthusiasm to enhance this space. Additional funding would help Llandeilo Fawr Town Council’s management and improvement plan to ensure the facilities of Parc Le Conquet are kept to a high-quality, providing safe and engaging environment for the town’s community and its visitors.
