Story

We are fundraising to fence off the mature trees at Low Park Farm, which is a historic cultural environment and part of our farm at Low Borrowbridge. The farm was abandoned in 1969. We are trying to restore the habitats there.
We have red squirrels, otters, the small pearl bordered butterfly and a host of mature trees (ash, bird cherry, alder, rowan, hazel, hawthorn, sycamore, silver birch, hazel, holly and oak) and woodland plants (bluebell, pignut, wood sorrel, yellow pimpernel, remote sedge, meadowsweet and opposite leaved golden saxifrage).
In 2018 a botanist sent by the Yorkshire Dales National Park came and surveyed the woodland and confirmed it is a priority habitat. I then wrote a woodland management plan in conjunction with and approved by the Forestry Commission. The plan stated that the woodland needed to be fenced off to allow it to regenerate. We are also putting in new hedgerows.

If you would like to contribute to helping us regenerate this habitat we would be very grateful. You can follow the progress on Twitter @ruslandvalley. We are a small upland beef and sheep farm in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and have 3 generations living here on the farm. Please nopermitting.
Thank you for your support
