The Covid-19 outbreak has left charities around the globe scrambling to survive and deliver services to those who need them.

Since social distancing and lockdowns began, Music in Action has implemented a series of virtual outreach programmes to care homes in order to continue our work to help those suffering in isolation or lonely without being able to see their loved ones, and an online educational project for our children called Jersey Sings to help them develop as the schools have reduced their programmes.

Mental health will be a major concern over the next year as the effect of the Coronavirus bites home. To 'lift spirits' and provide help via live music to those who have little access to it, we are working with Jersey musicians, and providing inspirational online music therapy sessions to the most vulnerable in society, including the elderly who are isolated in care homes, as well as running our award winning educational programmes to school children.

We are now in urgent need of donations in order to continue delivering these important community outreach initiatives. The unprecedented cancellation of our largest live fundraising annual events – the Liberation Festival in May, and Jersey Sings! in June, has had a significant and dire impact on ticket revenue. Moreover, it has left many of the valued musicians that we work with in challenging situations. Your donation can help protect Music in Action's future as a Jersey charity.

We would like to have live sessions over the internet to as many people in care homes in Jersey as possible. We also want to stream live to the community a series of events and our work through the year. Please help contribute to enable us to do this.

Also with your help, and the kind support of Apex and the Aureole charity, we are also working to produce a virtual version of Jersey Sings!, which will provide children all over the Island with the opportunity to be inspired by music and benefit from the educational help that music brings. Music in Action has provided teachers and children with four pre-recorded videos by expert tutors. Each child will then record themselves singing into a video and the virtual video will be released at the end of June for all to enjoy.

Music in Action is a Jersey charity. We have been sending community groups and professional musicians into care homes since 2014 and wish to expand this work in the current crisis. Every contribution helps. We would like to raise over £10,000 if possible - we're starting with aiming to raise £5,000 - and every sum no matter how large will help us get there and lift spirits across the islands.

- £10 will help part fund a person an elderly person taking part in a session in a care home (based on 3 people per session)

- £20 will fund two people taking part in a session in a care home (based on 3 people per session)

- £100 will help pay for an administrator to prepare our weekly plan and speak to care homes and the musicians to arrange the sessions to many care homes.

As soon as we move into a post covid world these projects will be able to be provided face to face rather than online.
