Iʼve raised £2,045 to help raise funds for a defibrillator for my village Primary School and also my village Community Centre

    Story

    Hi guys,

Did you know that, every week in the UK, 12 young people die suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition? Did you know that there is just a 3% survival rate out of 8,000 sudden cardiac arrests that occur beyond hospitals in Wales alone?

Those statistics shock me. Do they shock you?

Sadly, CPR is not always effective. Imagine undertaking chest compressions and attempting to breathe life into someone, yet they remain unresponsive. Imagine that person to be a member of your family. Your child even.

Am I getting through? The ambulance isn't!

Since undertaking CPR and defibrillator training, and knowing how imperative defibrillator machines are, I then became aware that my son's local Primary School and my local Community Centre do not have access to these machines. And, having already lost lives at the Community Centre due to heart-related conditions, you realise the importance of these pieces of equipment. At a cost of around £1,000, they are certainly not cheap. But then you can't put a price of someone's life, can you?!

I am therefore making it my quest to raise funds, for as long as it takes, to have these defibrillator machines in both Ysgol Derwenfa, Leeswood and the Leeswood Community Centre.

For my first fundraiser, I will be taking on the ZipWire Challenge in Bethesda, Snowdonia, travelling of speeds up to 80-100mph, 500ft above the Penrhyn Quarry.

I will then continue with various fundraisers, for however long it takes, to raise the necessary funds to have these machines in place to provide life-saving assistance.

Any surplus money raised above and beyond what is needed will then go to the "Welsh Hearts" Charity who supply the defibrillator machines and also give the necessary training.

I do hope you can support me, however small.

    Thanks for your time.

    Much love.

    Louise xx

Thanks to everyone who has supported me in this very important venture. Just waiting for a couple more sponsers to come in through the school sponsership form and then I will be able to give a final total. Definitely around the £2,300 mark though which is brilliant! xx
