Story
Ashleigh 13 yrs and Georgia 15 yrs are elite swimmers who are members of the City of Sheffield Swimming Club. They have been competitively swimming since before the age of 9 and have dedicated their whole childhood so far to becoming the best they can be, with both of them qualifying to swim at National competitions. They train 8/9 times per week, getting up at 4.30am before school, at least 2/3 times per week and have given up things “normal” teenagers take for granted like going to parties and sleepovers or going out with friends. In March though, when Covid 19 swooped in and took all this away, their lives were turned upside down and they went from gruelling training sessions to nothing in just a click of their fingers. So they turned to running and cycling to keep them fit and channel all their energy into something positive! Fast forward a few months to when things started to reopen; they were looking forward to getting back into the water! Only to receive the news that Ponds Forge was not reopening in the foreseeable future. This was a devastating blow for the two of them, their team mates and the Club itself! Fortunately, City of Sheffield swim club have a dedicated team of coaches who have searched for pool hire elsewhere, however this comes at a high cost, a cost that is not financially viable to sustain for too long. So the girls said they would like to try to raise some money for the club to help where they can, even if they raise enough to hire the pool for just one session! Every little helps!! They are so commited to their club and their sport that they have voluntered to ride 100 miles on their bikes to help raise these funds. Please, for their future and their teammates futures can you help and donate whatever you can spare 😊
