Remember Mark the Field Mouse Man? He’s now moved into his own flat, but has no furniture; only a sleeping bag from when he was camping. If anyone would like to make further donations, we will use the money to buy what he needs from charity shops. The local YMCA furniture shop has already promised a good discount on their already low prices. Thank you all for everything you’ve done. Mark cannot quite believe he now has his own flat. You’re amazing!

Remember Daniel? He’s now no longer homeless! We’ve also helped another man today, who gave up work and went to live with his dying mother to nurse her, but then had to leave their home when she eventually passed away. From tonight he has a roof over his head, instead of a cold railway arch. I’m continuously surprised and delighted at people’s compassion and generosity. I’m keeping the fund open a little longer to see if we can help one more person before the winter sets in. Thank you all so much.

“Mark” is settling in to his new (temporary) home well. Just about getting used to waking up in a bedroom. In a bed. He now has a bank account ready to receive his first salary payment. You cannot believe how many hoops had to be jumped through to organise that. Daniel is moving slowly and quietly in the right direction. He has a team of people helping him. I’m learning a lot about homelessness and the different paths people have to negotiate to leave homelessness behind. It’s a bit like Pilgrim’s Progress with sleeping bags. Onward!
