    Story

On 16th April, tragedy struck on the road in front of Diamond Muay Thai. Our trainer Mot and young fighter Lotus were struck by a drunk driver when returning home. The driver has been arrested after fleeing the scene but the repercussions of what happened last night will affect our trainers and students for a long time. Mot was pronounced dead at the scene and Lotus was taken to the hospital for emergency care.

Lotus is our youngest fighter at the gym, and he comes from a legendary Muay Thai family. He is the beloved son of Santos Davy and nephew to the late, great Nokweed Davy. Their whole family are multi-time Lumpinee/Raja stadium champions and Lotus is a talented and extremely hard working young Nak Muay who we hope can recover to pursue his dreams in life and hopefully in the ring. He's at the hospital suffering from a broken pelvis, leg, and a ruptured spleen.

We are currently unsure of the exact costs but we know that it is going to be a lengthy and costly rehabilitation process--we will update the info as we receive it.

Mot had been a part of Diamond for several years. Not coming from a Thai boxing back ground like our other trainers, Mot worked hard behind the scenes practicing how to hold pads so that he could join the team as a trainer. For the last few months Mot improved massively as a pad holder, learning basic English and always training our students with a smile on his face. Mot does not come from a wealthy family and leaves behind grieving parents and a widow.

We are setting up this page to assist the families of both Lotus and Mot. We are donating 100% of the money to Lotus and Mot's family to help ease their financial burdens. We would also like to pay for all funeral costs for Mot and hospital / rehabilitation costs for young Lotus who faces a very difficult time ahead.

A sincere thank you to anyone who donates from both the families affected and from Diamond Muay Thai.

RIP Mot and keep strong Lotus X

After speaking to Santos he informed us that Lotus has had a successful second surgery on his injured hip/pelvis. The first surgery did not align the joint and bones correctly and the surgeon therefore needed to re introduce the metal pins in a different manner Your donations have meant that they have had the comfort, food and essentials to ensure that Lotus is as healthy as possible and that Lotus has a loving father at his bedside in his time of need. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED SO FAR!!!

Lotus is in good spirits and there is no permanent damage from his head injuries- with his broken arm also healing well. He is able to communicate well but is still in a lot of pain with little control over his bodily functions. Unfortunately the operation to repair Lotus' hip/pelvis was unsuccessful and the break has not healed as well as the surgeon had hoped. Therefore an operation has been pencilled in for this week, looks as though the time frame will be another month in hospital but of course we will keep everyone updated. X
