In true Lorna fashion I have left this to the last minute. I am running the Bristol Half Marathon on the 25th September 2016.
I am running for a charity which is close to my heart, Somewhere House Somerset. Somewhere House Somerset aims to provide a therapeutic service for anyone who chooses to access support in the local community. This local charity relies on donations and fundraising alone and supports those who are in need. Have you ever felt alone and had no support? I know I have and this charity works within the local Somerset area, supporting those in need by giving low cost counselling, family support, educational workshops and supports community projects. We support those of all ages, from children to adults and also families. We specialise in helping those who suffer from mental health concerns, addiction, bereavements and simply offer and ear to listen. We travel to local schools to discuss with children and teachers the effects of addiction and also mental health.
Somewhere House Somerset was born through recognising that there is a huge gap within the services offered and how today these are not as easily accessible or available due to current cuts around funding. With the knowledge combined of all of our counsellors we are able to help others realise their potential, give a different perspective and offer choice to individuals bringing change to their lives.
