    Story

Having witnessed first-hand the devastating impacts of poor mental health, LooseHeadz was founded by Dave, Mark and Rob in 2017. Since being a part of the tight knit community that is the LooseHeadz Academy, I have seen with my own eyes, the amazing work and stellar effort that the foundation puts into improving the Mental Health Space for sports men and women.

With over 60 years of playing experience between the 3 founders, reinforced with a desire to help others, the campaign to #TackleTheStigma behind talking and tackling mental health was started.

The LooseHeadz Foundation (registered charity number #1193051) is the cornerstone of our campaign to #TackleTheStigma.

We guarantee that 100% of the money raised for our Foundation will be used exclusively for the betterment of players’ mental wellbeing.

Currently the Foundation is funded through the sales of clothing, donations and fundraisers.

My crazy cycling challenge is one of those fundraisers, so that LooseHeadz can keep doing the amazing work they do!

I will be cycling the UK End to End (Land's End to John O'Groats) in August 2021 with a twist. The bike I plan to ride the length of the UK on, will be my single-speed city bike.

I felt as though the use of a one-gear bike for this challenge would be a strong metaphor for the mental battles that we face during our lifetimes. There are the tough days, where you need some extra support from your mates and training partners to get up those hills and some days of gorgeous clarity, rolling down hills in sunny Cornwall where you feel on top of the world.

I want everyone to come on this journey with me and support as much or as little as you can!

The Foundation is run by a board of trustees, and headed up by patron Shaun Edwards, to ensure total visibility in everything we do. The trustees then decide where to distribute the money raised, and report back to the team on the impact of their campaigns.

We are immensely proud to have Shaun Edwards as the Patron of the LooseHeadz Foundation. Shaun, a legend of both codes of rugby needs no introduction. His help, support and association allow us to further help the silent majority affected by mental health.

The Foundation operates entirely separately to LooseHeadz to ensure that all funds received are appropriately distributed.
