Iʼve raised £4,583 to support Al Noor charity in providing water, sanitation, and infrastructure support for local communities in Kisauni Village, Zanzibar

    London, United Kingdom
Funded on Wednesday, 26th August 2020

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

All donations (Sadaqa/Lillah/Zakaat) made during Ramadaan should be made knowing that it will be distributed AFTER Ramadaan 2020 - due to current Covid travel restrictions.

Donations will be treated as Sadaqa unless advised otherwise to be Zakaat/Lillah. We are looking to withdraw the funds after Justgiving's 21 day policy so we can look to transfer the funds and get them in use before the end of Ramadaan In Sha Allah (God Willing).

    From Hamza Loonat:

My father, Hanif Loonat, will be continuing his work in supporting Nadir and Rashid and the rest of the team in all that they do in their great work for Al Noor in Zanzibar and Tanzania. He has been twice in 2019 (once in August with my mother, Razia, and again in December) to be personally involved in project management support, assistance, and fundraising.

    From Hanif Loonat:

I will be looking to travel back to Zanzibar in October 2020 In Sha Allah God Willing (subject to Covid travel restrictions) to distribute the donated funds along with Al-Noor to benefit the local communities of Kisauri Village. I have personally gotten to know Rashid and Nadir from my past visits, and aim to support them and Al-Noor charity as an ongoing effort.

    Al-Noor will use the funds raised to spend on the initiatives below;

    1. The construction of an Islamic Centre for Kisauri Village

    2. To supply fresh usable, drinking water to the local masjid and village community. (See link directly below)

    https://alnoorcharity.org/waterwells-program/

    3. The construction of sanitary and hygiene toilet facilities

    4. Al Noor's own Hajj programme (see link directly below)

    https://alnoorcharity.org/hajj-program/

    5. Al Noor's own orphanage programme (see link directly below)

    https://alnoorcharity.org/orphanage-program/

Donations will be distributed personally by Hanif Loonat and the Ground Team (details further below). We feel this is the most transparent and assuring way to know that your funds are being spent in the right way. We pray all donations made during Ramadaan will be rewarded in the same way as if the funds had also been spent in Ramadaan.

Justgiving's processing fees of 2.9% + 25p per donation will be covered/matched by the Loonat Family. This ensures that 100% of donations will actually reach the community, so as to provide assurance to all donors that their money is being 100% contributed.

Ghusl area built to the right, and wudhu ablution area built to the left (out of sight). Ablution area is used by the students and masjid attendees, and ghusl area is used by the masjid and community.

Masjid is to the left, Madasah is to the right. The buildings both go out to the sides and to the back. The water well and tank is located behind the Masjid (see the minaret of the water tower sticking out above the roof). High quality materials are sourced to ensure longevity of the build. This isn't a project that will degrade in 10 years, but it will continue to stand long after, In Sha Allah
