    Story

My name is James Saxby and over the last few years I've supported my friend James Simpson through lots of sport related challenges. James was instrumental in raising funds for Alfreton Youngsters Umbrella Provision (AYUP), which my son attends. 2024 is my turn to support this brilliant cause, so I'm taking on the Guinness World Record for the Longest Triathlon EVER, with the help of James Simpson and many others.

The rules and details are extensive, but in short I will aim to be swimming, cycling and running over the course of 2 days without sleep, in excess of the current record of 375km. This will take place in Derbyshire and I will finish the run in Alfreton, the epicentre of AYUP's focus.

I'd love it if you can do everything you can to help me share this far and wide, to raise the much needed funds to secure this provision for at least the next 12 months.

AYUP's goal is to provide safe secure environments where youngsters aged 11-18 can meet together, build positive relationships and positively impact their community. Unfortunately the town of Alfreton has lost all youth facilities over the years and AYUP is working to re-establish them. At present youngsters have the opportunity to participate in a regular Friday night Youth Club with activities provided by The Old farm Bus, a Wednesday night Sports Club at Alfreton Leisure Centre and a youth outreach project is running on Monday nights through the Blend Youth Project aiming to engage with and support the young people who are present across the town. AYUP aim to ensure all the activities are free for the young people which is why any funds raised are so appreciated.

Please donate what you can - £2, £5, £10+ it all helps AYUP to provide the much needed youth provision in Alfreton.

Hi all! Thanks very much for the donations, I feel like it's really gathering momentum now and I'm on the home run with training. We recently completed a "dry run" test day, all went to plan and with some small tweaks, we're sure that we've done everything we can to give me the best chance possible, but we do need your support! Thanks very much to all of the individual and corporate donations we've received already, it's given us a great start and I can't wait to give this my all. James xx

Hi all! Thanks very much for all of the donations to date, it's really keeping me motivated during the long training hours and every donation whether it's £2 or £200 makes a big difference to what we're trying to achieve for the young people of Alfreton. I've added a long open water swim to my weekly schedule, this will be key for making sure I can pace and fuel efficiently. Next up is a "dry run" in early June, where we will cover a portion of the planned distance for each discipline on the record attempt course, it's feeling very real! J x

Hi all! Thanks so much to all of you for sharing this with people you know and supporting this excellent cause with donations, it's certainly helping motivate me through the long training hours! I'm lucky enough to be going to Calpe with South Normanton Cycling Club next week, so hoping for some good sunny training miles. I'll check in when I'm back! James xx
