Iʼm raising £122 to skate every postcode in London. There are 122 postcodes so I am trying to raise £122 to donate to the Ben Raemers Foundation.

Don't have time to donate right now?

Story

In May 2019, at the age of 28, professional skateboarder Ben Raemers took his own life. . As a life long skateboarder I was flawed by this news and when the foundation formed I was constantly thinking of ways to raise money. The inspiration came from my own personal experience.

On January 6th, 2018. I was not in the best place mentally due to grieving the loss of a family member. I was stuck in the mire of another miserable cold weekend. Normally I would potter about stuck in my own head however on this day. I found that little spark of motivation, grabbed my board and went for a skate.

It was this small ember of resilience that launched an inferno of creating my own skate videos and making music. I had previously recorded music but in darker times I had become jaded with the process and music scene. Now I had skate footage that needed a soundtrack so I dusted off the instruments and got back into making music. Every video, like learning a new skateboard trick, made me want to think of something better. A new trick to be filmed or a new way to challenge myself. This cumulated in the coming up with the "London Postcode Challenge"

In this challenge I need to skate all 122 postcodes in London. For every completed postcode I will donate a pound to the foundation. To complete a postcode I need to land specific tricks and a mystery trick that reflects the postcode (notable person , history).

By making these videos my overall aim is to inspire someone to find their own spark of resilience. Do something for yourself no matter how ridiculous it may seem. Do something where you laugh in the face of absurdity and shout this is for me !!!Many times I rub the sleep from my eyes while getting the train to a far flung postcode in London but I love the process. For the process, silences the negative doubts in my head and screams I am doing something.

With this challenge I want to do something more and give back to the skateboarding that rescued me from another cold day indoors with dark thoughts. This is why I want to raise money for the Ben Raemers Foundation. I have got a lot from the Ben Raemers Foundation from suicide prevention training to a workshop on journal writing (with the awesome Brian Anderson). So this of my way of giving back.

Keep up the Great work!We would like you see you visit the E14 postcode!Specifically, see if you can make a journey to the Westferry Road Bank. It's a small brick bank with a ledge at the top.
