I've raised £2000 to help London All Stars Taekwondo Academy fund local community children to learn Taekwondo and gain discipline, self esteem and confidence

London All Stars Taekwondo Academy in Camberwell South London was set up 18 years ago by co-founders James Williams and Claude Williams and the assistance of Gilroy Wright and in recent years club secretary Valerie Sandiford who manages the marketing, branding, tournaments and administration duties
All three coaches have worked tirelessly giving their time, knowledge and dedication to the club for the benefit of the children within the local community, they work holistically through instructing taekwondo to teach discipline, self-empowerment and to build confidence to the young people
They equip children with the tools they need to overcome everyday struggles, and help them develop a positive mind-set that can help them to deal with setbacks and withstand obstacles they may face .
Parents and guardians have shared their appreciation of the progress and positive impact the coaches and the club has had on their children at school, particularly the ability to focus and the level of confidence and sense of achievement the children have gained.
What is remarkable about the London All Stars Taekwondo Academy is that the coaches have consistently committed 18 years of their time, prioritising the children and family’s needs for a supportive, local club in an area that faces a high level of deprivation and crime.
The instructors, all black belts and all DBS certified invest a lot of time and energy in the club, to support children's overall physical and mental health and well-being, and provide an area where they can be supported and achieve in a climate where our children face ever increasing pressures that can influence their development negatively, particularly our young boys. The coaches provide strong supportive role models, and an opportunity for parents to access them and share their support for them also.
The club adheres to the high standards imposed on them from the British Taekwondo Body, and has participated and achieved great success in many tournaments over the years. They were invited to participate in their first tournament in Southampton in October 2017, 3 courageous junior fighters debuted their talent and fought their hearts out and were rewarded for their efforts when the 3 virtually unknown fighters came home with 2 bronze medals and a gold trophy. It was a great achievement for the club and a very proud moment for their families
Since then the club has participated in many tournaments nationwide, also achieving great success, but this comes with financial pressures for parents of talented young people who may not be in a position to afford it
So we are crowdfunding to raise money for equipment for the children to train on at the club so they too can realise their dreams and acquire the skills to be able to compete like their predecessors, as well as to buy club competition equipment to loan to those who may not have the resources to afford it so can borrow it instead, making it is achievable for all community children and benefit the club as a whole who has provided opportunities at the grass roots level.
