Story
We are raising funds to help protect Penrhos Nature Park. Its wealth of biodiversity is at risk from development into a holiday village. In an area of outstanding natural beauty, 25% + of our woodland will be felled.
Penrhos Nature Park is situated on the beautiful coastline of Holyhead, Anglesey. The park is home to may rare species of flora and fauna. It is also the home to a stronghold of RED SQUIRRELS amongst many, many other species. Yet it is at risk from developers.
Loved by the locals and tourists alike, the park brings in more than 10,000 tourists during the year. It is a much loved and needed environment of the local community.
We must protect Penrhos Nature Park, in an area of OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY, from becoming a holiday village. Planning application started in motion by Land and Lakes nearly 10 years ago. It went against 11 Welsh policies! Letters of concern came from THE NATIONAL WILDLIFE TRUST and RSPB, alarmed at the plans in process. Local residents objected and fought. YET this OUTLINE planning was PASSED! The story is long and twisted to say the very least and now Penrhos Nature Reserve stands on the edge of destruction!
The DISCHARGE OF CONDITIONS relating to part of the application is now with council. The fate of our woodland left in their hands. Biodiversity is in grave danger!
We remain concerned about the potential impact on the AONB and adherence to national guidance. (PPW5) relating to it.
Penrhos area in particular is already a valued environmental resource for Anglesey providing opportunities for a range of activities benefiting the health and social well-being of many thousands of people.
WE MUST DO ALL THAT WE CAN TO SAVE OUR TREES! OUR WOODLAND!
PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP US RAISE FUNDS TO SEEK THE BEST LEGAL COUNCIL WE CAN.
Thank you.
