I never really understood my dad until I was old enough to understand his story, it's amazing how you can grow up knowing people as your father, mother, sister, Aunty etc but at some point you will realise (if you're lucky enough) that you don't actually know who they are! Recently we have been told that my dad has an incurable cancer and that he needs to make any plans he has - to make a reality, sooner rather than later...
My dad grew up in a children's home and never had or felt that unconditional love, sense of belonging that a child needs, he struggled to fit in and conform but he met my mum and they had 2 daughters, I have only felt a connection with my dad since I've grown up,, through no fault of my dad.. But I've realised I'm a chip of the old block and want to celebrate what an amazing man he is!

We are walking the El Camino Santiago de compostela together in April, I cannot tell you how daunted and excited I am!!

We will switch off from the real world, We will have no work worries, We won't have to be any where, We can go where we want, when ever we please!!

By being stripped of today's creature comforts we are being released for a month from the race of life and goodness don't I need it! I am so lucky to get this time with my dad!

I will be staying in barns, shared dormitories and random pilgrim refuges, it's going to hurt and I'm going to be tired, it's the most physical challenge I've tackled ........Like ever!

I know how tough it will be emotionally and physically, but this is a once in a life time opportunity.

So If I can raise a buck or two to help find a way to beat this disease then even better!! :)

Ladies.. Please get your men checked, your dads, husbands, friends .. There's no real symptoms until it's quite advanced so get a health check!! Yes this mean a finger up the bum! But it's better than being told you have two years to live! Think about it and donate if you can :) thank you xx
