I've raised £2000 to support the creativity and potential of children and young people with neurological differences

My daughter Lily is unique and incredible. She has a neurological condition, sensory processing disorder (SPD), which means she experiences the world differently. She is under a constant barrage of sensory input with no effective filter. Sensory overloads can feel intolerable, unmanageable and scary but Lily is bright, sensitive, creative, resilient, brave and very determined.
In 2022 Lily climbed Mount Snowdon. She completed the climb despite being told she wouldn't be able to do it due to the impact of her SPD. With Snowdon under her belt she decided last year to attempt Scafell Pike. Again she made the summit, overcoming significant difficulties along the way, to raise £2,500 for an amazing cause. This year Lily will attempt to complete the third peak by climbing Ben Nevis, the highest of them all.
Lily is again raising funds for Writer's Room. Writer's Room is an inclusive group for children and young people and works to promote creativity, instill confidence and support the mental health of talented creative young people, many of whom have day to day challenges due to neurological and other conditions. Writer's Room has helped Lily make an awareness film about the challenges of SPD, helped her get her first book published, Tarturus' Box, a Greek myth and much more.
With the funding for the group having been cut, the fantastic and dedicated organisers are again in danger of having to scale back the groups’ activities. Lily is hopeful that her Ben Nevis challenge will raise enough money to support the group for another year.
If you could spare a little to help Lily's cause, she would hugely appreciate it!
