Liam Canning was an uncompromising, committed and much loved player from Rossendale Rugby Club. He played for Rossendale for the last 4 seasons but before that, represented Pendle Rugby Club, Blackburn, Sedgley Park and Burnley.

Liam was highly energetic, enthusiastic, kind and brightened up any room with his positivity. He was an uncompromising player on the pitch who always led from the front. Off the field he was a true family man, loved by his friends and family including his wife Paige and his children.

Sharing close connections with many at Sale Sharks past and present, Liam was coached by and played alongside Byron McGuigan, Sam Bedlow, Simon McIntyre, Tommy Taylor, Denny Solomona and everyone at the club, and the wider rugby family, has been deeply saddened by this tragic news.

Sale Sharks and Rossendale have set up this fund to support Paige and the family – including their unborn child - and we know you will join us in supporting the family at this difficult time.
