Story
Lewis Presbytery of the Church of Scotland has supported Nkhoma Hospital, Malawi, over many years while Church of Scotland Mission Partners, David and Rebecca Morton, served the facility. With the Mortons now retired, Lewis Presbytery continues to support the Hospital.
Following a devastating COVID-19 outbreak earlier this year, Nkhoma Hospital requires to urgently invest in new equipment and drugs. The Malawi National COVID Task Force has asked Nkhomo Hospital to become a full National COVID Treatment Facility and this will require considerable investment in PPE. The Hospital's Ambulance also requires replacing - critically ill patients must be transferred to Lilongwe for more intensive treatment but, sadly, during the COVID outbreak, two patients died in transit.
In supporting Nkhoma Hospital, Lewis Presbytery of the Church of Scotland joins with its partners in Gordon Presbytery.
