Story

Let’s Talk, Stansted! are passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing in Stansted Mountfitchet and the surrounding villages. It is our mission to ensure that no one has to struggle alone.

Let’s Talk, Stansted! was set up in July 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic. Tragically, in a very short space of time our village lost three of its residents to suicide. A group of people came together with one single aim – to ensure that never happens again. The Stansted Mental Health Initiative (Let’s Talk, Stansted!) was created and registered as an open, not-for-profit community interest company (CIC) to ensure that the initiative is accountable to the community.

All money raised goes towards:

- training local residents as registered Mental Health First Aiders providing them with the confidence to support people with mental health issues

- maintaining our team of ‘listeners’ who are ready and trained to offer a sympathetic and supportive ear to anyone who needs it

- holding regular events and activities in the village to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health, encourage people to talk and to promote mental health awareness, including a Men's (Veg) Shed, walking group, open water swimming group, and yoga and mindfulness classes
