Story
Many Ukrainian families have had to flee their homes overnight, with very little in the way of possessions. Whilst neighbouring countries like Poland, Slovakia and Romania have provided temporary refuge in make-shift camps, they are unable to cope with the sheer numbers of Ukrainians desperately in need of help. And even if they were, this isn’t a long term solution.
We have approached all of our winemaking friends across Europe, and many of them have generously offered the use of lodgings that might otherwise be used for tourism or to house seasonal workers. We now need to raise the funds that are urgently needed to cover the logistical costs of relocating these families in need, from Ukraine and surrounding refugee camps to the safe havens that our friends in Europe have kindly offered.
We will then act as a link between our Ukrainian importers and our European winemaker friends to coordinate the relocation process and help these families as much as we can, while they try to rebuild their lives.
We appreciate that there are lots of fund raising efforts in circulation, but if you are able and willing to support our endeavours we would be extremely grateful.

Les Caves de Pyrene
3 years agoI thought I'd take a minute to update everyone on our fundraising activities behind the scenes and, more importantly, to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who's supported our efforts. The recent charity dinner, hosted by our amazing friends at Galvin La Chapelle, raised an incredible £20,000 and the associated live auction compered by the inimitable Charlie Mellor, together with the subsequent online auction fetched an awesome £62,000! Thank you so much to you all. We aren't quite there yet though, so please do keep the support coming, xx

3 years agoApologies for the radio silence... we've been flat out with this project (amongst others) over recent months and working hard to put the funds so generously donated, to good use. We’ve also found an additional avenue to make contact with Ukrainians in need of assistance so have several more families on the move to safety as we speak. We have been so touched by all the support we’ve received for this fundraising drive… from customers to suppliers and everyone in between. Your generosity has been astounding. Thank you! xx

Les Caves de Pyrene
3 years agoA big thank you to those that have supported us so far. A lot has been going on behind the scenes these past two weeks to get this initiative up and running. The good news is that two families have already been re-located; one arrived in Sicily yesterday and the other in southern France. More accommodation offers are generously being recevied and we are now working with someone based in Lviv, another in Rzeszow, Poland, a lawyer and a transit company. We are hoping these new contacts can help re-locate other families shortly.
