Iʼve raised £485 to provide podiatry services and supplies to the bandaging unit in the Village of Hope (leprosy village), New Delhi.

    Story

Thanks to the many people who have donated already my friend, Marian and I will be flying out to New Delhi on Boxing Day.
We will be working at The Village of Hope in the bandaging unit for 2 weeks treating and dressing the foot wounds of the leprosy sufferers who live there. .

I am keen to raise more funds so that we can continue to improve the foot care and wound care that the patients receive at the bandaging unit even after we have gone.
I do not know what they need until I get out there, but I do know that, at present, the facilities at the unit are very basic. I envisage that your donations may be used for off loading footwear to reduce wound healing times, or special orthotic materials for use in their existing sandals to prevent re-ulceration, or even a new steriliser.
And , of course, if our visit is a success and we have been able to have a positive impact on the provision of wound care at the unit, I would love the opportunity to visit the Village again and build on that success.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you all for your support. We have had an amazing experience at The Village of Hope but sadly it has come to an end. The units are far more basic than I envisaged so we have come away with a long shopping list. We will using your money to buy lights, leg rests, nail nippers, padding material and insole material, Plastic bowls for foot soaking and oil to apply afterwards.
