Story

Back in November 2018, on the day that the devastating results confirmed what we all had feared  (that the second tumour removed from Carsons brain was indeed medulloblastoma) I set about completing my first of what will turn out to be 119 gruelling training sessions to get me in the best shape possible to complete the Manchester Marathon on April 7th 2019 with an amazing group of people from all over the UK.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am pretty much allergic to running. Back in 2017 my husband signed the family up for the Edinburgh Marathon festival, myself in the 5k. I had to endure the couch to 5k training just to get me around, and hung up my running shoes soon after.

Carsons prognosis, having contracted the brain cancer for the second time within a few months isn't great, and although we are all staying positive we understand that there is no better time than now to spoil the wee dude and fulfil his wish of meeting his favourite superheroes and seeing his sisters meet some Disney Princesses. He needs to have this trip before he starts another course of chemotherapy, as this may be his last chance.

I have committed 6 days a week to training, and my fantastic friends, family and neighbours have all rallied around to make this possible. Being a mum of four (and a dog), the logistics haven't been easy. Sometimes I can be found on the treadmill at midnight, or pounding the local streets at 5am because they are my only options. I have started as a complete beginner and come the 7th April I will have run almost 500 miles in 20 weeks and committed about 7-10 hours every week to train.

My 44 year old body isn't as resilient as it used to be so the aches and pains are real, but I want to  make sure that I can do the best that I can to raise what I can to help Carson get his dream.I'll be #runningforcarson on 7th April.Any small donation to get me around the 26.2 miles on the day would be gratefully welcomed.
