Story
On 27th May 2017, I'll be plummeting to my death (sorry abseiling) off of the Titan Crane to raise money for Epilepsy Scotland and the West Scotland Deaf Children's Society.
As someone who has a phobia of heights, has borderline vertigo and can't even walk at the edge of the second floor in a shopping centre, it only seemed logical to abseil from 150ft up in the air!
In all seriousness, having had Epilepsy since the age of 12, Epilepsy Scotland have provided great support over the years to both myself and others. Epilepsy Scotland help to fight against discrimination and stigma experienced by people with epilepsy and work to ensure that the appropriate services and support are available. In Scotland alone, over 54,000 people currently live with Epilepsy and this is why Epilepsy Scotland campaign for improved healthcare, better information provision and an end to the stigma.
I'm also fundraising in aid of West Scotland Deaf Children's Society. A charity that has helped a close friend of mine, I've become aware of the amazing work that they do and how underfunded they are. Even the smallest donation can help in giving the children a day out. West Scotland Deaf Children's Society offer help and support for families with deaf children in the West of Scotland, covering twelve local authorities.
Any donations received would be massively appreciated and will be split equally between the two charities.
Thanks!
Lauren x

8 years agoWith just over 4 weeks to go, I'm currently sitting at £350 including cash donations! A massive thankyou to everyone who has donated so far. In terms of preparations, I managed to coax myself into doing the Flying Fox at Blair Drummond Safari Park which is a whopping 30feet high and I was terrified! I'm trying to walk closer to the edges and look down whilst in shopping centres but it isn't going well so far ... next stop is Xscape to have a practice on some the climbing :) Thanks again guys for everyone's donations and well wishes!
