Iʼm raising £3,000 to Save Lady Scraggs the Stray Cat

Story

We are trying to raise £3,000 to help save Lady Scraggs, a wild / feral cat who would otherwise have been put down at the vets.
She has a huge wound on her lower limbs and stomach that vets suspect was from being trapped - it’s like she’s been skinned alive, and it was horribly infected.
We are raising this money help to pay for her initial assessment, X-rays, ultrasounds, continued wound flushing and dressing, as well as wound dressing changes two to three times per week, ongoing antibiotics and painkillers, food and bedding for the next 4-8 weeks until she recovers.
Lady Scraggs is a stray / feral cat, who has been frequenting our garden since we moved to the countryside last Summer. We started feeding her as we noticed she was eating our bird seed on days hunting was tough, rummaging around looking for scraps in the garden, and as cats do, she would come back every day for the humans to give her eggs and tuna.
Last week, we didn’t see her for 4/5 days, and we spotted her strolling through the garden looking weak and thin and with an enormous wound.
Panicked, we contacted a local charity for something to trap her with, and rushed to capture her to help her.
We immediately took her to a vet, but unfortunately the first vet we spoke to advised that if we couldn’t pay £1,000 up front (which we don’t have) that they could only put her to sleep 💔 they did however very kindly keep her overnight while we worked out what steps to take next to heal her and keep her alive.
She is estimated to only be around a year old and has an AMAZING appetite, takes her meds no problem, and was walking even while severely injured - so it didn’t sit right with us ending her life when she is just a kitten with so much life in her 💔
Her wound was severely infected and she likely would have died from infection had we not intervened.
A local charity could only neuter or spay but could not help with her injuries (she has her ear clipped so is already spayed)
She is also not chipped and after knocking door to door in the area nobody knew her or claimed her as their own.
Another local charity could help, but would have to keep her as an indoor cat for the rest of her life in a sanctuary. As a wild kitty, we know she enjoys roaming and hunting and decided it would be in her best interests to be treated and released back to where she’s happiest - the fields and the wild!
Amazingly, Medicor Vets were happy to help - they agreed we could set up a payment plan while we attempted to crowd fund to bring back her health. We have already put a substantial amount of our own money towards this but don’t have the funds to fix her on our own.
Her initial appointment was £560, and she will need regular dressing changes and laser therapy to heal her skin two to three times a week for the next 4-8 weeks, between £60 and £120 per appointment depending on the severity and how she’s healing. On top of this she needs regular antibiotics and painkillers, as well as food and bedding.
People have so kindly offered a crate while she recovers, as well as food which we are SO grateful for - it’s lovely to see how many people come together to help a wild animal 😭
She is very timid and untrusting of humans at the moment, and we just want to see her recover and get her back to where she belongs, looking for rodents in the fields 🌷
Anyone who knows us knows we take in any waif or stray that needs help - as well as Lady Scraggs we also have a three legged rescue greyhound and have rescued over 25 domestic rats in need over the last few years. If our funds could stretch to cover Lady Scraggs we would never reach out for help, but we need help for her to recover.
Any little you can spare will all add up - thank you so much for your support and for reading her story!
Any overfunding when she is well and released and needs no more vets appointments will go to the Mann Cat Sanctuary ❤️🐱
Super grateful for everyone who has offered crates, food, and of course every kind vet and veterinary receptionist that helped her 💕
Thank you from Lady Scraggs 🐱🐾❤️
