Story
Can you give a small amount of money, which together may save these children from malaria and medical emergency?
These children of Kyatika, in the Kagadi District of Western Uganda won my heart when I heard their individuals stories of loss, poverty and uncertainty, from the young man who has taken them into his care. Mugisa Job, who grew up an orphan, like these children has taken them into his home and does his best to feed them and provide them with water, and ultimately a good education from the local school.
Through HIV/Aids, conflict and malnutrition the children have all lost their parents, and now rely on their small, makeshift community to keep them alive. Some were found alone, wandering the streets of Kagadi town.
Mugisa and I met when we were in conversation on a Christian web forum. I have never met him, or visited the children, but he is truly inspiring individual, who needs all of the help he can get to fulfill his dream of keeping these children well. One child was lost to malaria last year and another has recently been sick. Following a small donation from four overseas friends, Mugisa shared his recovery story via webcam and photos. The children have established their own casava plantation, and process firewood for money. Local support is at a minimum and the corrupt Government does not help; recently promising to provide mosquito nets and not following through.

7 years agoDear Friends, As admin of this page, I have failed! I have seen that the fundraising page for mattresses for the Kyatika Children was set to be locked in August. Although we have had some generous donations, we are far from our target and so keen to get the children some good healthy mattresses so that they can sleep and feel comfort in their home together. Please read our campaign description for more information or visit: www.kyatikachilren.worpress.com with thanks

7 years agoAn update from the Kyatika Children ;) We have raised £50 so far, which will buy us 10 mosquito nets. Thank you to our lovely donors and their big hearts! If you have not done already, please share our cause with others who may wish to help. The twenty children in the organisations' care are in need of protection from malaria and have not other income, being self sufficient. Many thanks and God bless x
