Iʼm raising £5,000 to kmfm's Tonnes of Tins 2024 Can you help us collect for local food banks across Kent

Don't have time to donate right now?

Story

Kent’s Biggest Food Collection is back, and we're asking: “Can you help us collect Tonnes of Tins for local food banks in Kent?”

More people than ever are relying on food banks, and this need continues to grow. In 2022/23, the number of people in 'food insecure' households rose to 7.2 million, an increase of 2.5 million since 2021/22*. This trend is evident in our local communities as well.

Food poverty is a growing issue, but we know we have the power to help. We have teamed up with local businesses across Kent to collect and deliver as many "Tonnes of Tins" as possible by mid-August to local food banks.

Approximately 2,400 420g tins of beans or similar food items equate to one tonne. We aim to see how many tonnes we can collect and distribute within the five-week timeframe.

Last year, we made an incredible impact by donating 6.77 tonnes of food to local food banks across Kent. This year, we've made it even easier to get involved, and we hope to equal or beat our efforts from 2023. We understand that many may be unable to help us financially this year, but a share on social media or an email to colleagues and friends could make a huge difference and is free! - Rob Wills, Head of Broadcast and Drivetime Presenter

See what we achieved with your help and support last year!

There are three ways you can donate to this campaign:

Donate a small amount of money to our JustGiving page here.

We will purchase tins in bulk, securing great discounts which means we get the best value, and distribute them among our food banks.

Order an online shop via your chosen supplier and have it delivered to kmfm HQ. You can order your shop to be delivered during office hours Monday to Friday, between 08:30 and 17:00. See the address details at kmfm.co.uk/TOT

Deliver in person to kmfm HQ or to one of our incredible partners with offices across the county. See the address details at kmfm.co.uk/TOT

A small contribution can make a huge difference. Find out more at kmfm.co.uk/TOT.

Hey everyone! The team here at kmfm just wanted to say a huge thank you for your donations. We know times are extremely tough, and as you've heard us say on air, our goal was never to "beat" last year's numbers. What's most important is generating as much food as possible for food banks here in Kent. There's not long to go, so if you can share this on your socials for us, we would be extremely grateful. Thanks again, Rob and the kmfm team
