Story

Give A Gift 2024 is here

After last year’s heartwarming response, we’re excited to announce that kmfm’s Give A Gift is back, with even more opportunities to make a difference this Christmas!

This year, our campaign is proudly supported by Hendy Vauxhall and Peugeot Tonbridge, and we’re on a mission to make 2024 the biggest year yet.

What’s Give A Gift All About?

Give A Gift is about bringing joy to young people across Kent who are facing challenging times in hospitals, care facilities, or living in difficult situations.

Every child deserves to feel the magic of Christmas, but sadly, many won't have a gift waiting under the tree. With your help, we’re here to change that by delivering toys and gifts that brighten their festive season.

You’ll be hearing all about Give A Gift on kmfm, in our KM newspapers, on KentOnline, and on the Hendy Vauxhall and Peugeot Tonbridge social platforms.

We are now welcoming donations from our listeners, local businesses and friends of the station until Friday 6th December. There will be no extension this year and our JustGiving page will close Wednesday 4th December.

What Gifts Are We Looking For?

We’re collecting new toys and gifts for children and young people across Kent, from infants to early teens, including those in hospitals and care facilities.

Popular items include age-appropriate toys, books, games, and crafts that can bring a bit of joy and comfort. To keep things safe and suitable, please avoid donating toy weapons, food items, and second-hand toys.

Each gift, big or small, makes a difference in bringing holiday cheer to kids who need it most!

Last Year’s Success and This Year’s Goals

In 2023, thanks to the generous people of Kent, our kmfm listeners and community support, we collected over 14,000 gifts! Our wonderful partners, including local businesses, rallied together to make it happen, with deliveries made to many different locations across Kent by the kmfm street team and presenters.

This year, we’re aiming to match last years efforts, with the hope of bringing even more smiles to children and young people.

Thanks to Hendy Vauxhall and Peugeot Tonbridge

Our incredible partner this year is Hendy Vauxhall and Peugeot who this year celebrated opening their all new showroom in Broke Farm, Five Oak Green Road, Tonbridge.

kmfm and Hendy’s Give a Gift is a wonderful initiative that will offer comfort to many young people in need across Kent over the coming festive season,” - Will Hendy, Regional General Manager at Hendy Group. It’s a special year for us as we’re celebrating our 165th anniversary, and it’s great to bring it to a close by having our new Hendy Vauxhall and Peugeot Tonbridge site become a partner for this very worthwhile, community-driven campaign.

Give A Gift 2024 – FAQs

1. What types of toys or gifts are needed?

We’ll be delivering to various locations across Kent, including hospitals, care homes, and facilities supporting vulnerable or less fortunate children. Our recipients range from infants to early teens, so we welcome toys and gifts suitable for these age groups. Please feel free to donate items you believe are age-appropriate and will bring joy.

2. Is there a minimum or maximum donation size?

There are no restrictions on donation sizes—every gift, big or small, makes a difference. Some toys may stay within hospitals or care homes, while others might go home with young people, so feel free to give as generously as you can.

3. Are there any toys or items that aren't allowed?

Yes. We kindly ask that you avoid sending items like toy guns, swords, or other items that might be unsuitable for a hospital setting.

4. Should I wrap the gifts before donating?

No, please leave items unwrapped. This helps us categorize each gift by age group to ensure they go to the right recipients.

5. Can I donate second-hand toys?

Unfortunately, all donated items must be new. Due to health considerations, especially when delivering to children who may be unwell, we can only accept new items. If you have second-hand items, please consider donating them to a local charity shop.

6. Can I send sweet treats, like chocolates or other food items?

No, we’re unable to accept food items, including sweets or toys that come with food. This ensures safety and suitability for all recipients.

7. Which hospitals and care homes will receive the donations?

Last year, we delivered to multiple locations, and this year we aim to reach as many as possible. At the end of the campaign, we’ll post a list of the benefiting locations where possible, though some may remain confidential for safeguarding reasons. Rest assured, all donations will go to Kent and Medway facilities.

8. Will I be able to find out where my gift went?

While it’s not possible to track each individual donation, some gifts may appear in our post-campaign videos and promotions. With the high volume of gifts, we hope you understand the difficulty in providing individual tracking.

9. Can I donate on weekends?

We’re only able to accept donations Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in person. We hope you can stop by during these times, and you might even have a chance to meet Garry, Chelsea, Andy, Rob, Numi and Ben! If you’re unavailable during these hours, please consider sending an online delivery or contact us using the form below to make special arrangements.

10. Can I request toys for a specific hospital, care home, or facility?

Yes, please contact us using the form below, and we’ll respond as soon as possible to discuss your request.
