Story

Remembering Kim

She was a selfless, kind, beautiful, funny and honest human being.

She was a loving and caring daughter, sister and friend.

She was a wonderful, hardworking and talented colleague.

She was a soulmate to her fiancé, who she was excited to marry in April 2022.

She was studying for her Criminology and Criminal Psychology Masters, a subject she loved.

Kim was a selfless, caring, beautiful, funny, genuine and talented young lady with everything going for her. Despite her recent MS (Multiple Sclerosis) diagnosis, she stayed silly and full of life. She had everything going for her and was excited for the future. She had previously gained a 1st class degree in Film Studies at Anglia Ruskin and was close to completing her MSc Criminology and Criminal Psychology Masters with the University of Essex online, where she was getting distinctions and merits. She was set to marry the love of her life, Andy, in April 2022 in a rustic ceremony she was enthusiastically planning. She was a beloved and invaluable colleague in her career as an HR Communications and Digital Engagement Officer at Lincoln University and a creative and talented Multimedia designer. More than that, she was an amazing human being with a big heart; Kim could be relied upon for anything, and was usually the first to think about everyone around her.

In late November, Kim was admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties after several weeks of being increasingly unwell. She assumed it was Multiple Sclerosis fatigue (she had been diagnosed with MS a year or so earlier) but the cause turned out to be a serious heart condition. She was on the verge of going home the Sunday prior to losing her, her sister Tina packed ready to go and stay with her to help with the recovery. But knowing herself well enough to know that she didn't feel right, Kim insisted on staying in. Guttingly, then she tested positive for COVID-19. We believe she caught it in the hospital, as she took the utmost care throughout the pandemic, working from home and barely going out, and had tested negative twice before in the hospital. Sadly, a set of terrible circumstances then unfolded that ended in her body essentially shutting down. By the 3rd, Andy, Kim's mother and father and her sister Tina were given exceptional circumstances to rush to her hospital bedside to be with her. On the 4th, the hospital staff and local community rallied around to put a wedding together for Kim and Andy at short notice. They organised make up, a veil, rings, three wedding cakes and decorations. It wasn't the official wedding Kim hoped for due to technicalities, but a blessing ceremony with an exchange of rings went ahead with her parents and sister at her bedside. Andy was at her side the following morning at 20 to 7 when she passed.

Losing a daughter is more than anyone should have to go through. Losing a daughter to COVID-19 at the age of 29, right before a vaccine is rolled out, is even more heartbreaking. This page came about thanks to lots of you expressing that you wanted to help with Kim's fund. The hope is that this will give her parents one less thing to worry about.

Everyone wants to give Kim the very best send off possible. The donations will contribute to her funeral costs, other related costs and help her family during this tragic time.

Any shares and donations are welcome and appreciated. Thank you.
