    Story

    Who are Kidz 4 Kidz?

Kidz 4 Kidz is a performing arts company, run purely by volunteers, to give children from all avenues of life an opportunity to take part in theatrical productions. We rehearse every Sunday afternoon and perform 2 theatre shows a year.

We are called 'Kidz 4 Kidz' because the profits from the shows that the kids perform, goes to helping another child or children's charity - hence the 'Kidz' are doing it '4' the 'kidz'.

It all began in 2001 with a cast of 43 performing our first show, numbers have risen dramatically, with close to 1,000 performers having taken part in Kidz4Kidz during the past 20 years.

Why are we trying to raise money?

Since 2002, with larger cast numbers, we have performed at The Charter Theatre in Preston, Lancashire, UK. Unfortunately this theatre closed down in 2019 and was due to be taken over by somebody new...then Covid hit. We haven't been able to get any update on what is happening with the closest theatre to us, where we have performed for 18 of our 20 years.

Over the past year we have performed 3 Virtual Shows, through online teaching of routines and cast members sending in their videos. Audience members of the Virtual Shows donated for raffles each time and this enabled us to still raise money to help a 9year old girl buy a much needed electronic attachment for her wheel chair.

Obviously without rehearsals over the past year, or the ability to have our usual fundraisers, our funds are low. However the team of volunteers who run Kidz 4 Kidz, were determined to produce the 20 year anniversary show in an actual theatre. We needed to find on that could house the cast size backstage and were extremely lucky to get The Opera House in Blackpool for the show on Sunday 19th September.

Whilst our regular rehearsals will cover the hire of mics and some other production aspects, the venue will cost £3,600 to hire, and we also have to include costing of technical operatives on top of that.

Luckily, we have a great team of volunteers, who have started to organise fundraising events like a sponsored 3 peaks challenge, a table top sale, an 80s night, duck race etc. but some of these events can only happen once the UKs Covid 'roadmap' allows.

We have set up this Just Giving page to try and raise these funds to make 'going back to the theatre' as magical as possible and reignite passion for the accessible arts for the children in our area. Unfortunately we can't add our offline donations, from fundraising events to this page, as it's a crowdfunding page, but we can lower our goal amount as our fundraising events take place.

Thank you for caring enough to read our plight :)
