Story

We are Kids of Yesterday, a two-piece rock band from Canterbury. This Christmas we are working hard to give a little something back to our local community, where we have both lived our whole lives. We have written a new Christmas song, entitled “Wake Up It’s Christmas”, and have recorded an accompanying music video to bring the music to life. The song will be available for purchase on all major online music streaming services and every single penny raised will go towards The Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund. Alongside song sales we have also set up a Just Giving page – which we hope will encourage people to further help this great cause.

The Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund provides support through gifting food parcels and toy vouchers to vulnerable families, and individuals, who reside within Canterbury and the surrounding area. This charity holds the annual ‘Open Air Carol Service’ event in Whitefriars, Canterbury, which helps to raise a sizeable sum of money with which they are able to do their incredible work. Sadly, due to Coronavirus, the carol service has been completely cancelled this year.

We understand, 2020 is not the year to be asking for charitable donations. The impact of Coronavirus has been disastrous for so many. But the one thing we know, more than anything else, is this: while we may not be able to change the lives of others as just two small time musicians from Canterbury, we CAN - with your help through a share on social media, a purchase of the song or a small donation to our Just Giving page - come together as community to bring the spirit of Christmas back to Canterbury again.
