We run a Youth team which has been running for just over a year now and currently has a group of 25 youth players. The club was created on the back of Kettering Futsal Club elite senior men’s team, who have just been crowned champions of the FA National Futsal League Midlands Division and are Northamptonshire’s only FA National Futsal League team.
Furthermore, one of their players Freddy Raku, recently made his debut for the England regional Under-19 Midlands team. He has been playing at a Satellite Club set up at Latimer Community Arts College, in partnership with Kettering Futsal Club in 2015.
We train on a Tuesday and Friday night and play games against other sides on various other nights, which have included local teams, as well as other teams further afield, such as St. Ives, Kempston, Milton Keynes, Leicester, Nottingham and Bedford. We have also recently played against some Futsal teams from Australia, who came over on a sports tour. The youth team has also just been accepted into the Leicestershire Futsal League, which makes us the first team outside the county to be accepted. We will also soon become the only futsal team in Northamptonshire and one of only a few in the country, to gain charter standard accreditation.
As you can see Kettering Futsal Club is growing quickly and we are very proud of our achievements, which has also been down to the hard work of a lot of people connected with the club, who are all volunteers. One of the club’s goal is to further promote development and a pathway for the youth team to succeed through the ranks into the adult team and have fun. There are however many expenses connected with running the club and we rely for funding solely on our own fundraising events and the support of local businesses. The club has various items that we need to purchase for the youth team to replace existing kit, or purchase additional training aids to help develop the players.
