    Story

Kevin Yates was known as a gentle giant with a heart of gold.

Being a keen gardener and Parks Manager, various parks across Staffordshire and further afield had the benefit of his knowledge, skills and experience on many occasions. Helping various groups and organisations with horticulture and a variety of events from; promenade concerts, and traditional fetes to children's woodland and art activities, but more importantly gaining some very fond and dear friends along the way. Kevin very sadly and suddenly passed away on Thursday 7th January 2021. Kevin's family, friends and colleagues are keen to remember him with a memorial bench in one of his favourite places in Beacon Park, Lichfield. Once the funds have been raised for the bench, any excess money will be used to fund a children's horticulture competition the 'Kevin Cup' open to all to grow and show their homegrown large fruit and veg. Followed by donations to Wolverhampton Coronary Aftercare Support Group (WCASG), which his late Father helped to set up.

Such incredibly sad and shocking news. It was always a joy to see him at Parks Forum meetings and conferences - he was always so positive and welcoming and always ready to help. He leaves a big hole
