Story
I hated PE and play time at school. I just never found enjoyment in the traditional sports played in school. As a result, I didn't appreciate the importance of exercise and I struggled with my weight and fitness in early adulthood.
2 years ago, just before the arrival of our daughter, I started couch to 5k. I couldn't keep up with my toddler at the park and decided enough was enough. 2 years later and I haven't looked back.
On Saturday October 14th 2023 I am taking on 'Run to the Sea', an Ultramarathon.
50km (32 miles) from Moors Valley, down to Sandbanks and along the coastline to Hengistbury Head.
The furthest I have run to date is a Half Marathon (21km) and so this is going to be a major step up for me!
My 4 year old started at Ringwood Infant School this academic year and I want him to have a different experience with exercise growing up. The single most important thing for me is that he, and other children, have fun when exercising. I love running and everything that goes with it, therefore it is never a chore for me. I want him, and all the other children, to find the thing that they love so they can have that same experience. This starts with their experience of exercise in school.
Schools have been hideously underfunded for many years and deserve better. Charitable donations are the only way schools are able to fund the extras that are needed to show children how to have fun when exercising.
I am setting an ambitious target of £1000. This will go to Friends of Ringwood Infant School with the aim of further developing their play and PE equipment.
Any donations would immensely appreciated and go a long way to giving children the opportunity to find fun in exercise.
Wish me luck! I need all the luck I can get for October!
Thank you!
