I've raised £3000 to Help fund a Dental & Optical Clinic for Vulnerable Children in Sal, Cape Verde

KEEP ELAINE MOVING
To raise money for the next clinic I have come up with the crazy idea of seeing how far I can get in the world from Dundee with no money.
I leave on the 21st July.
Yes you heard that right !! I believe in the good of people and basically I will be relying on others, the goodwill of companies and facebook to see how far I can get in 10 days in the summer. I will also have to hope that people feed me and give me a bed or couch.
Any donations given will go to fund the clinic and not to how far I can travel.
To safe guard myself I will have a gps tracker on my clothes, 10 protein bars (incase no one feeds me for the 10 days) and £100 for extreme emergencies.
The whole journey will be on facebook www.facebook.com/capeverdeclinic
If you can help in anyway ... lift, lorry, flight, boat, bed, meal then please get in touch.
You can all help by sharing the story far and wide please !

The Cape Verde Dental & Optical Clinic
My name is Elaine Harris and I am the founder of The Cape Verde Dental & Optical Clinic. I have a 13 year connection with the island of Sal which is one of the Cape Verde islands and situated off the coast of Senegal.
It all started out by me helping a local charity on the island where I could by bringing over essential items but I wanted to do more. I then realised that dental and optical treatment is so expensive on the island that the local families just can not afford treatment. The average wage on the island is €200 and a dental appointment without any treatment is €50. Add this to the fact that tourism has boomed over the last 10 years with many tourists handing out sweets and there is a very big problem.
In 2018 the first clinic ran and we managed to carry out almost €40000 worth of free treatment. It was such a massive success that the pop up clinic will become a regular event. The next clinic date is the 18th November and I am currently fundraising to help as many children as I can. My target is to carry out 3 times the amount we did last year and not only help the kids in the town charities but also work on site in the slums.
Last year a £10 donation became £150 worth of free treatment, so even a small donation can really go towards helping a child.
