I've raised £4300 to buy a dedicated racerunner for Finlay to continue racing, running and raising awareness of cerebral palsy in sport.

**UPDATE**
WE'VE DONE IT - FUNDRAISING IS COMPLETE!!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE. ANYTHING RAISED FROM THIS POINT ONWARDS WILL BE GIVEN TO CPISRA - A CHARITY WHICH SUPPORTS CEREBRAL PALSY IN SPORT. THIS PAGE WILL CLOSE SHORTLY.
After just 6 months we are now only 68 miles from John O'Groats and have reached our target (after crowdfunding costs) including proceeds from this page and other sources. We could not be more grateful!!!
Finlay is also joining in with his own epic effort to cycle the distance of the North Coast 500 route, starting on 19 April 2021. A virtual challenge covering 516 miles.

We (Gill Menzies and Lorraine Twyford) are running (virtually) from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money to purchase a Cerebral Palsy running bike (racerunner) for Finlay. It’s 874 miles and we hope to complete the journey in just under 8 months (running 25-30 miles per week).
When children and teenagers experience the satisfaction that comes from overcoming a challenge or pushing their comfort zone they feel positive and their self esteem soars, just as you’d expect. And so it is for Finlay. He loves to run. When Finlay runs everything goes better; school work, homework, approach to challenges, everything really!!
Finlay was born with congenital asymmetric bilateral cerebral palsy, which means that life is exhausting. Everything takes more effort and energy to complete. Despite this Finlay’s main love in life is Sport!! He loves cycling, kayaking, walking and running. Especially running!! He is the defending Scottish champion at 100m and 200m, and the silver medal holder for 400m.
In order to run Finlay needs a running bike, called a racerunner. It takes the weight of his body and some of the burden of coordination needed to run, making it possible for him to cover longer distances at a pace which is akin to most runners .
We have begged and borrowed racerunners for the last five years, which has been amazing, but often results in long journeys just to collect the equipment he needs for a run, or extra setup time to get it positioned again after another user has borrowed it.
As Finlay has almost stopped growing the opportunity to own a dedicated racerunner would be empowering, freeing and enabling; opening up the opportunity to run where and when he likes throughout his teenage years and into adulthood.
Will you please help us to raise the last few pounds towards this equipment and support Finlay in his pursuit of running, racing, fitness and well-being?
Thank you,
Gill, Lorraine and Finlay xx
