Story
Kate was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer in 2016, aged 28 having just married her husband Chris, and with their precious one year old daughter Lucia (now 3).
Kate endured 4 operations, 6 months of intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy and 20 steroids a day. Her life was turned upside down, but being the warrior that she is, she was given the good news that the cancer had gone just 12 months later in 2017. (You can read more of Kate’s initial diagnosis here).
Fast forward to 2018, exactly 2 years since her diagnosis, and after spending those 2 years trying to regain her health and obtain a normal family life, we’ve been given the devastating news that the cancer has returned in an incurable form.
Kate is beginning urgent NHS treatment to manage the tumours, now in areas of her bones. Whilst we will do everything that we can, there are a number of additional options available to Kate, at home as well as the potential of new, advanced treatments not available on the NHS. All of this will assist with bone healing and pain management, as well as supporting the success of Kate’s medical treatment.
These additional, but extremely crucial treatments are costly and this is where we ask for your help, by way of donation, however great or small to help us get Kate the extra time she deserves to spend with the people she loves.
We can’t thank you enough for your support and generosity. Anything at all will be appreciated from the depth of our hearts. We will also be looking at sponsored activities and other ways to be involved in raising the money for the things that Kate so badly needs. If you’d like to know more or can help in anyway, please email forkatemciver@outlook.com.
Thank you.

6 years agoCont... We have therefore lowered the target on the Just Giving page to reflect this, and are pleased to say that Kate will be donating 20% of her skin serum profits to Cancer Research UK if you continue to support her in this way. We can’t thank you all enough for the generosity, kindness and support that you have shown us. Your messages have been so appreciated and provided us all with so much strength. Now is time to focus on the path ahead and get Kate and our family through it in the most positive way possible. Thank you all. For Kate.

6 years agoCont... We have taken stock of the situation and feel that we have now raised enough to fund all of the above. Stem cell treatment and other advanced options have been advised by the oncologist as a ‘last resort’ due to the great risks associated with them and so we have placed these decisions on hold whilst we spend time as a family making memories and supporting Kate, Chris and Lucia with everything that they need. 6 years agoCont.... All of the above things have gone a VERY long way to ensuring that Kate has everything in place to give the strongest fight possible against this disease and ensure her body is ready to support her medical treatment. Kate is undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy as well as taking drugs to prevent oestrogen production, plus the potential of various surgeries. All of these are provided by the NHS. Cont...
